Be sure to do these four things for your heating system in the coming weeks as we move toward the heart of spring 2019.
Check your furnace air filters – We’re probably repeating ourselves here, but changing your air filters is one of the most important things you can do for your forced air heating system. A clogged air filter will lower your efficiency, raise your bills, and lead to more heating repairs down the road; check your air filter once a month when your furnace is in regular use.
Clear away dust and dirt – Heating equipment is a magnet for dirt and dust, especially during the winter; it’s a good idea to get that gunk cleared now rather than leaving it to attract even more in the months ahead.
Schedule preventative heating maintenance – Your heating equipment can probably use a little TLC after a long winter of hard work. Early spring is a great time to tackle routine service for your furnace or boiler, since expert technicians are more readily available during “shoulder season.”
Consider heating equipment upgrades – Spring is often the best time to buy a new heating system – lower demand and springtime incentives typically keep the price of heating equipment down, and installation appointment times will be more plentiful.
