Does Heating Oil Provide The Best Heat?
Does Heating Oil Provide The Best Heat?
Posted: October 21, 2019
A home heating system can have a dramatic affect on both your comfort and energy costs, especially here in Rhode Island where we rely on heat for eight months a year.
The good news is that there are many options for heating our homes here in the Northeastern U.S. But when it comes to providing the best heating solution for the challenge of a New England winter, there’s really only one choice: good old heating oil.
Why choose oil heat for your home?
Here are six key reasons so many love warming their home with heating oil:
It burns hotter – Heating oil burns 300 degrees hotter than natural gas, which means your home will heat faster (kind of important here in RI). You will also need to burn less heating oil to stay comfortable, which means you’ll spend less on fuel.
It’s safe – Heating oil is harmless at room temperature (it must be heated to 140 degrees and vaporized in order to burn) and will never explode, unlike natural gas.
It’s abundant – During the height of winter, demand for natural gas can outpace supply – a problem that rarely happens with abundant heating oil.
It helps the environment – Today’s ultra-low sulfur heating oil (ULSHO) burns 95 percent cleaner than heating oil did 50 years ago – and Bioheat® fuel blends raises the clean-burning bar even higher.
Your equipment lasts longer – With proper professional preventative maintenance, today’s oil-fired heating furnaces and boilers can last 30 years or more – as much as twice as long as systems powered by natural gas.
